Now that the last grapes are picked and fermentation tanks are being drained to barrel we can set sights to the Holiday events of 2009. Everyone has their own set of traditions over this period, but a good bottle of Suisun Valley wine can bring a special cheer in each case.
This year there is ample opportunity to make a quick visit to Suisun Valley tasting rooms to sample and make decisions on what will work best with the Thanksgiving turkey or the Christmas dinner. There are so many to now choose from.
It is easy to sneak into Suisun Valley for a quick look, taking one of several convenient off ramps from Interstate 80 like Suisun Valley Road and Abernathy Road then simply heading north into the Valley. A good directional sign program is installed at each intersection of the road system in Suisun Valley to help you find your way.
New whites such as Verdelho, Muscat Blanc, Albarino and Torrontes might be a great offset to traditional Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc with that Turkey. 2009 Riesling is likely to be ready for Christmas as well.
Take advantage of fresh seasonal produce along the way and stock up on all those fabulous Fall offerings before winter sets in.
To cap off the Holidays give serious consideration to the Anniversary Winemaker Dinner to be held Dec 29th. Christmas gifts behind you and New Year celebrations to come.
